The theme of the course is open and freely chosen, covering the 16th–18th-century solo, consort, and basso continuo repertoire, with a primary focus on pieces initially composed for the recorder.
Examples include:
-Ricercate (Virgiliano, Bassano)
-17th-century, mainly Italian diminutions and Canzonas (exploring cantar sodo and passaggiato ornamentation from an instrumental perspective)
-French suites and English sonatas by composers such as Hotteterre, Dieupart, Händel, and Paisible (introduction to stylistic elements and ornamentation)
-Italian and "gemischter Stil" sonatas, recorder concertos, and chamber music pieces featuring an original recorder part
In addition to individual lessons, group sessions will also focus on essential practical aspects of recorder playing, including: recorder-specific breathing techniques, hand positioning and finger exercises (e.g., trill, flattement), articulation and dynamics, exploring tonal possibilities, etc.
